May 05, 2006
UK mobile technology developer ROK has inked a deal with China's SMG to provide technologies for its mobile TV content intended for China Mobile's mobile TV service, with the deal expected to be worth up to 665 million pounds over the next three years. Revenues will be shared by China Mobile, SMG, and ROK. The companies are aiming for ten million people to subscribe to the service over the coming three years. Subscribers will be able to watch eight channels, including three English and five Chinese channels. There will be a ten-second delay for the live news channel due to regulations of the Chinese government.
